Use Add Text when you need a title, label, callout, or short note burned into a recorded video. The dedicated Add Text tool is available in the iOS video editor on iOS 17 or newer; Android users should use subtitles or logo tools for the currently supported overlay workflows.
Open the recorded video
Go to Videos or Records, open the saved take, then open the video tools menu and choose Add Text.

- If you do not see Add Text, confirm you are on iOS 17 or newer.
- Use the Add Subtitles guide when the text should follow speech.
- Use the Add Logo guide when the overlay is an image or brand mark.
Add and position the text layer
Type the text in the input field, add it to the preview, then drag it to the safe area of the frame. Keep it away from faces, captions, and platform UI that may cover the edges.
- Tap a text layer to edit or delete it.
- Use short text so it remains readable on mobile.
- Preview at the same orientation you plan to publish.
Set timing and save
A text layer can be visible for the whole video or only a selected range. Use Set Time or Edit Time for a timed label, then tap the confirmation button and wait for video processing to finish.
