Add subtitles to a video in Teleprompter Automatic

Use Add Subtitles when viewers need captions or when the video will be watched without sound. Teleprompter Automatic can extract speech into subtitle segments, then lets you review styling before saving the edited video.

Open Add Subtitles

Open the recorded video, choose Add Subtitles from the video tools menu, and select the spoken language when the app asks for it.

The Library screen is the starting point for scripts, folders, saved videos, and app settings.
  • Pick the language spoken in the recording, not the interface language.
  • Use clear audio for better segmentation.
  • If the app asks for access or a plan, complete that prompt before continuing.

Review and style subtitles

After transcription, check the subtitle text and timing. Adjust font, size, text color, background color, or background opacity when those controls are available on your platform.

  • Keep captions inside the safe lower area.
  • Use contrast that remains readable over bright and dark frames.
  • Watch the preview once before saving.

Translate only after the first pass is correct

On iOS, subtitle tools include translation screens for subtitle segments. Correct the original subtitles first, then translate, because translation quality depends on the source text.
