How to control Teleprompter Automatic with Apple Watch

The Apple Watch app works as a wrist remote for Teleprompter Automatic on iPhone. Keep the script open on your iPhone, then control scrolling and recording without touching the mounted phone.

Connect Apple Watch to the reader

  1. Pair your Apple Watch with the iPhone where Teleprompter Automatic is installed.
  2. Open a script in the Teleprompter Automatic reader on iPhone.
  3. Open Teleprompter Automatic on Apple Watch.
  4. Wait for the watch to show the connected reader and its current scroll mode.

If the watch asks you to open a script, return to the iPhone and keep the reader screen open.

Control each scrolling mode

  • Fixed speed: use the minus and plus controls to reduce or increase the current speed.
  • Timed scrolling: adjust the planned duration in 15-second steps before scrolling is locked, then follow the remaining time on the watch.
  • Words per minute: adjust the reading pace in 5 WPM steps.
  • Voice Scroll: start or stop the reader and check the listening status while the iPhone follows your speech.

The active mode is selected on iPhone. For a full explanation of all four modes, read the scrolling modes guide.

Start scrolling and recording

Use the main playback control to start or stop scrolling. Use the recording control to start or stop a video take. While a recording is active, the watch also shows a separate control to pause or resume recording.

If the watch does not respond

  • Confirm the watch is paired with the same iPhone.
  • Keep Teleprompter Automatic open on both devices and reopen the script reader.
  • Check that the iPhone and Apple Watch can communicate through their normal Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection.
  • Close and reopen the watch app, then request the reader state again.

Choose the right remote

Apple Watch is useful when you want recording controls on your wrist. For physical keyboard or gamepad buttons, use the Bluetooth remote guide. To control the reader from any nearby browser, use Web Remote.
